Neonatal urinary ascites (a case report)

One of a rare problem in newborns is ascites. Almost 30 percent of neonatal ascites is caused by urinary disease. The most common cause is urinary tract obstruction from posterior urethral valve.
Case report
In this case report, we present a patient with urinary ascites that was initially thought the ascites have liver origin because of direct hyperbilirubinemia.
In conclusion the cause of the ascites should be determined for treatment management. This can be achieved by analysis of the ascites fluid. Although urinary ascites is very rare condition, it needs rapid management to gain a good outcome.
