Read More Background: Considering the important role of understanding the childbearing motivations in counseling services about childbearing behavior, and need for applying a valid and reliable instrument to assess it in Iranian society, this study was conducted to determine Childbearing motivation. Questionnaire was validated in two versions including Persian and English. The review aimed to comprehensively review the validity and reliability of Childbearing Motivation Questionnaire to provide comprehensive information to health providers. Materials and Methods: We conducted an extensive search on online databases (Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and CINAHL) from inception until September 2019. The following keywords were used: ("Childbearing Questionnaire" OR "CBQ") AND ("Factor Analysis" OR "Exploratory Factor Analysis" OR "Confirmatory Factor Analysis" OR "Reliability" OR "Psychometric" OR "Cronbach's alpha" OR "Test-retest Reliability" OR "Intra-class Correlation Coefficient" OR "ICC"). COSMIN checklist was used to assess the methodological quality of studies. Results: Three studies were included in review. Intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the test–retest reliability indicated satisfactory reliability of the CBQ. Original version of Childbearing Motivation Questionnaire was developed by Miller (1995). In Persian version, original model did not show the ‘acceptable’ fit. After removing eight factors with low loading and two correlated error terms, modified model was found to have "adequate" fitness (Comparative Fit Index (CFI=.91), Tucker–Lewis Index (TLI=.90), Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA=.04), and Chi-square to degree of freedom x2/df=1.92). Conclusion: The Persian and English version of childbearing motivation has good construct validity and reliability. Future research needs to test six-factor model with 49 total items and modified model with 43 items in various populations.

Read More Background: Due to the low rate of breastfeeding among working mothers and support of interventions to increase the duration of breastfeeding, this systematic review conducted to evaluate psychometric properties of instruments measured mother’s perception of Breastfeeding Support. Materials and Methods: The search was carried in English language databases including Medline (via PubMed), Scopus, Cochran library and Web of Science since inception to March 2018 regarding published studies evaluating the psychometric properties of the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy. The COSMIN checklist was used to assess the quality of related studies. Results Authors of Perceived Breastfeeding Support Assessment Tool’ (PBSAT) suggested that instrument seem to should be two factors "workplace environmental support for breast-feeding working mother" and "the available social environmental support for working mothers". Total Cronbach's alpha was 0.85. In exclusive breastfeeding social support (EBFSS) instrument, based on exploratory factor analysis, 16 items grouped into three factors "instrumental", "emotional" and "informational factors" accounted 66% of total variance. EFA were followed by confirmatory factors analysis showed Modified model was partially fitted to the data. In the Workplace Breastfeeding Support Scale (WBSS), EFA identified four dimensions of breastfeeding support at workplace. These four factors labeled "technical support", "breastfeeding-friendly environment", "facility support" and "peer support". Cronbach’s alpha was 0.77 and split-half reliability was r=0.86. In Employee Perceptions of Breastfeeding Support Questionnaire (EPBS-Q), data scaled by the Multidimensional Random Coefficients Multinomial Logit Model. A two-dimensional model (company polices/work culture and manager and her co-workers) were emerged. Cronbach’s alpha was excellent (almost 0.90). Conclusion: Four instruments found to assess breastfeeding was valid and reliable to measure breast feeding in social and workplaces.

Read More Background: The breastfeeding self-efficacy is one of the psychological factors affecting the duration of breastfeeding; the Breastfeeding self-efficacy measured by the breastfeeding self-efficacy scale-short form (BSES-SF). It was validated and reliable in several studies. The current systematic review aimed to comprehensively review the validity and reliability of the BSES-SF in various versions to give comprehensive information for authorities in this field. Materials and Methods: We searched English databases, including Medline (via PubMed), Scopus, Cochran library and Web of Science since inception to May 2018 to find all previously published reports the psychometric dimensions of the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy. Two reviewers read independently extracted data assessed. The quality of the studies was carried out by the Consensus-based standards for the selection of health status Measurement instruments (COSMIN) checklist. Results: In this systematic review, reliability was measured using Cronbach’s alpha; inter coefficient of correlation (ICC) as well as an analysis of the item-total correlation. Cronbach’s alpha of breast-feeding self-efficacy for whole scale ranged from 0.76 to 0.95 considered moderate to excellent. Only two studies assessed test-retest reliability. One study reported correlation between two time intervals that was high (r=0.94) and another study measured test-retest reliability using ICC. It was ranged from 0.69 to 0.78 that consider suitable. Item-total correlation ranged from 0.23 to 0.85. Construct validity was tested using factor analysis. Original one- factor structure was confirmed in Spanish, Chinese, American, Canadian, Brazilian and Creation version. Some studies reported four and six –factor structure. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) confirmed one-factor structure. Conclusion:Original one- factor structure was confirmed in Spanish, Chinese, American, Canadian, Swedish, and Japanese, creation, Turkish, Portuguese, Brazilian and Creation; version six and four- factor need to further test in future studies. This study provides evidence also that the modiﬁed BSES-SF may be a valid and reliable measure of breastfeeding self-efﬁcacy.
