Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of play therapy based on cognitive-behavioral model on adaptive skills and social-adaptive functioning of children with confrontational disobedience disorders. Methodology: The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The statistical population of the study was children aged 6 to 11 years referred to the psychiatric clinic of Zare Hospital in Sari in the first half of the year of 2020 who were visited by a child and adolescent psychiatrist and received a clinical diagnosis of confrontational disobedience disorder (120 people), of which 40 were targeted. Were selected and randomly divided into control and experimental groups. Dokhanchi Children Adaptation Skills Questionnaire (1999) and Price et al. (2002) Social and Adaptive Questionnaire were used to collect data. Also, treatment based on cognitive-behavioral play therapy was applied individually to the experimental group during 10 one-hour weekly sessions and the questionnaires were completed again. Analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data. The results showed that play therapy based on cognitive-behavioral model has an effect on adaptation skills and social-adaptive functioning of children with confrontational disobedience disorder. Conclusion: It is suggested that counselors and family psychologists in counseling and treatment centers for disorders related to children's disobedience play therapy based on cognitive-behavioral model.
