Abstract

Introduction: Emotional intelligence is one of the most effective ways to reduce test scores and can be learned through education and increase success. The overall purpose of this study was to determine the effect of teaching emotional intelligence components on exam anxiety of students of medical and non-medical sciences departments of Islamic Azad University, Tehran Medical Branch in the academic year of 2018-2019.
Method: For this purpose, the quasi-experimental research method of pre-test-post-test was used that 179 people were selected from medical and non-medical students of Islamic Azad Medical Sciences of Tehran by quota method and were divided into experimental and control groups. Sarason test anxiety questionnaire was used to collect the required information. After completing 8 training sessions on emotional intelligence components, Post-test was taken from two groups. The data obtained from the study were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods and appropriate inferential tests.
Results: The results showed that the mean reduction of test scores in the experimental group in medical and non-medical students was significantly different from the control group. (P <0.05) According to the results of the present study, the training of emotional intelligence components in the form of A group used it for students, especially students with high test anxiety. Also, software and educational books in this regard should be prepared and made available to students.
