Abstract

Objective: to assess the precipitating factors, demographic data, clinical and radiological manifestations, electroencephalography, echocardiography, electrocardiogram (ECG), and laboratory findings, in children with syncope and it`s recurrence rate from 2010 to 2020.

Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional and retrospective study, we collected demographic characteristics (age, sex, weight and height), clinical signs (by studying the course of the disease and available history), laboratory data, findings of echocardiography, electroencephalogram and Electrocardiogram, brain CT scan or MRI of children with syncope from 2010 to 2020 in Motahari Hospital, Urmia, Iran .

Results: 61 children with syncope were entered the study, the mean age was 8.3 years. Laboratory data included CBCs, serum electrolytes were in the normal range. Electroencephalogram showed no significant changes. Standing position was reported by most subjects as the one at which syncope occured.

Conclusion: Our study revealed no relation between clinical and paraclinical findings and syncope. However, additional examinations such as electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram and routine blood tests can reveal fatal causes of syncope. And based on their results ,clinicians can implement further diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
